Postgraduate sponsorships
Corus currently sponsors approximately 100 postgraduate students in a variety of technical and engineering programmes.
The majority of these are supported by grants from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
To be considered for sponsorship we look for motivated, articulate graduates with a degree in any scientific, technical or engineering discipline. The research projects are derived from real challenges that face industry, thus researchers can make a significant contribution to the performance of Corus.
Every postgraduate project is different and Corus encourages students to spend time at its Technology Centres or manufacturing sites, working in close collaboration with their Corus Industrial Supervisor.
Corus also offers employment for technically skilled postgraduates across a range of disciplines:
-
Engineering
-
Metallurgy
-
Environment
There are two main routes to sponsored postgraduate study with Corus which are outlined below. To meet the minimum requirements for this, all applicants must possess at least an upper second honours degree or a lower second supported by a Masters, or equivalent.
Engineering Doctorate Research Projects
The scheme is a four-year industry-based PhD project coupled with management training, registered with the University of Wales.
Industrially supported PhD projects
Corus supports a range of post graduate research including metallurgy, processing, surfaces and coatings, environment, safety and engineering.
